Will Limited Foreign Language Credits Hurt Admission Odds?
Question: My student (a 9th grader) is grappling with exactly how many many superiorpapers com review years of language to take in high school. Since it is an elective, it limits her choices to just take other items, like continuing in orchestra or exploring the STEM-Project Lead the Way system. Will there be any trend or motion in university admissions to substitute the traditional 2-4 year foreign language demands with fine arts courses or other coursework? How will you declare that students prepare to fulfill a language requirement, if they do not know exactly what college they’ll connect with yet?! will there be any wiggle room within the college superior essay writer admission/application procedure in case a pupil has too little foreign language credits from senior school, but has taken rigorous alternative courses alternatively? Thanks for responding!
Being a mother of the senior high school sophomore, my advice could be, “Let your kid take just what excites her most, as long as she fulfills minimal language demands.”
But, as a university therapist, my answer is different. I don’t see any trend toward reducing foreign language expectations. At the more selective universities, 3 years of the exact same foreign language is considered minimal and four is preferable. At a great many other schools, nonetheless, including some quite selective ones superior papers, 2 yrs of language is okay. Therefore if your child has Ivy inside her eyes, or should your crystal ball suggests that she may be deciding on any of the most competitive colleges, I would personally urge her to keep to suit language into her schedule, even if this means using summer classes or taking superior papers com part in international immersion programs. (The latter could be very pricey nevertheless the former can be obtained at community colleges close to house if not, if required, online.)
